RENOWNED Bollywood actress Kajol will inaugurate the 9th edition of the cultural event, ‘Khasdar Sanskrutik Mahotsav – 2024’ at Ishwar Deshmukh Physical Education College, Krida Square, at 6.30 pm on December 13, informed Union Minister Nitin Gadkari. He was addressing a press conference held at Hotel Center Point, on Monday. Launched under the leadership of Gadkari in 2017, the event aims to provide various local artists and performers to showcase their talent in front of large audience. The year, the annual mega cultural event of the city will continue till December 22. The cultural festival will feature performances by various artists of national and international repute. Major attractions will be musical performances by India’s renowned musical band ‘Sanam Band’ featuring singer Sanam Puri on December 20; a live in concert by renowned singer Udit Narayan on December 21; and a concert of singer Vishal Mishra on the concluding day The opening ceremony of the programme will be followed by ‘Mai Bharat Hu..!!’, a dance drama presentation by Sansakar Bharati. Dr Kumar Vishwas, one of the best known poets for youth in the country will present ‘Apne Apne Ram’ for three consecutive days from December 14 to December 17.

December 17 will feature ‘Abhang Wari’, a programme that will replicate the festivities of ‘Aashadhi Wari’ of Pandharpur. The programme will feature around 2000 artists that will present a ‘Ringan’ performance, one of the highlights of the ‘Ashadhi Wari’. ‘Abhijat Marathi’, will be performed as a tribute to Marathi laureates ranging from Sant Dyaneshwar, Charvak, Sant Tukaram, G D Madhulkar, P L Deshpande, V V Shirvadkar will be organised on December 18. The performers from Marathi entertainment industry including Ajit Parab, MughdhaVaishpayan, Savani Ravindra, Sonia Parchure, Sankarshan Karhande, Anand Ingle, Mrunmayee Deshpande, Bhargavi Chirmule, and Girija Oak among others will perform during the programme.

An unique ‘Instrumental fusion’ programmes featuring instruments from Northern India and Southern India will be organised on December 19. Niladri Kumar, Rakesh Chaurasia, Taufique Qureshi, and Ojas Aadiya will be performing. The morning session of the programme will be held from 7 am to 8 30 am everyday from December 14 to December 22. This session will include religious programmes like mass recitation of Hanuman Chalisa, Ramraksha Strotra, Rudra Pathan, Ganapati Atharvashirsh Pathan, Manache Shlok, Sundarkand Pathan, and Srisukt Pathan among others. The‘Manache Shlok’ recitation which saw participation of more than 12,000 students, is expected to feature more than 25,000 students this year. The programmes in the evening session will be opened by various performances of nearly 250 students of Bal Kala Academy including patriotic songs based on Swatantrya Veer Savarkar, Dance, and Dramas. Entry to the event will be through free passes. With increasing popularity of the event with every passing year and increasing demand of the passes, organisers have been forced to find new ways of delivering the passes to the general public.

This year the passes will be available to general public on their mobile devices after scanning a QR code that will be available to general public. This process is utilized to ensure that accessibility of the free passes to one and all and be part of this event. At the outset, Gadkari launched the theme song, and audio-visual promotional clip of the Mahotsav. Padma Shri Dr Chandrashekhar Meshram, Adv Sulekha Kumbhare, Vikas Kale, Suresh Sharma and others also were present at the press conference. Prof Anil Sole, President, Khasdar Sanskrutik Mahotsav Samiti delivered the introductory remarks while Jaiprakash Gupta, Secretary proposed a vote of thanks. Dr Gaurishankar Parashar, Ashok Mankar, Dilip Jadhav, all Vice Presidents; Prof Rajesh Bagadi, Treasurer; Balasaheb Kulkarni and other members of the committee has appealed to the citizens to be present in large numbers.
